Grinderman with Nick Cave

Grinderman, Nick Cave’s “New Band”

I just saw Grinderman on the Jimmy Fallon show. I forgot how good Nick Cave could be. It has been a few albums since I heard anything that was to my taste, although I seem to be in the minority here, from what I usually see in print.

Here is a link to their performance on Jimmy Fallon’s show:

Grinderman is a simple band, Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos. On the Jimmy Fallon show they performed the song “Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man”, which featured the refrain, “Sucked Her Dry”. Nick played guitar and sang, with the others doing backup and Warren Ellis played guitar as well. There was a really nice guitar solo as well, which kind of suprised me, I guess…

I would definitely love to see this band. Nick Cave can be one of the most captivating performers I have ever seen, and it sure is good to see him move in this direction with this band. Back to the basics, a 4 piece rock and roll band.  Kind of reminded me of the good days.  Beacon Theatre, NYC, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds touring Murder Ballads.  That show honestly changed my life – for the better!

Oh and another thing:  Grinderman has a super cool website, with a backround featuring a wolf walking through a house.
