My review of Van’s Restaurant in Albany:

Van’s is a Vietnamese Restaurant in Albany NY.

We were on a trip to Albany, and saw Van’s was highly regarded, and served a decent selection of vegetarian options, with a section of the menu dedicated to vegetarian options.   It is simple, basic, and roomy inside.  The waitstaff while we were there were totally professional and helpful.

We ordered vegetarian summer rolls, which had shredded wheat gluten inside, as well as other ingredients.  The gluten was really nice in there.  It was kind of “meatlike”, which most of us kind of like.  Very nice appetizer!  Next we got two vegetarian entrees:

Sauteed Tofu with thin Vermicelli, and Shredded Tofu with Broad Rice Noodles.

Both dishes were really tasty, and quite different.  The sauteed tofu dish was very much loved by RandRVeg’s wife, and i just loved the shredded tofu, which was kind of like a stew/sauce dish over noodles.  It also interestingly had chunks of seitan,  which were a great addition.

Rounding out the meal was a decent wine selection, as well as beer.

We absolutely loved the food.  As a vegetarian you will have no trouble eating well here, and it’s really not that expensive either, so a real winner!
