Fake (Imitation) Meats Just Are Getting Better – Just ask the NYTimes

We previously did a review of some great imitation meats out there, by Gardein.  When Gardein came on the scene, it caused everyone to step up their game.  It was delicious, and totally vegan – a fantastic combination.

We still LOVE Gardein.  But we have been noticing a bigger and very high quality selection of “meatless” meats in the stores today.  They really come in handy for me.  Today for lunch I made a really delicious “chicken and rice” soup, with carrots, garbanzo beans and imitation chicken broth.  It was seriously fantastic.  But before I get too into that….

Today the New York Times had an article entitled “Fake Meats, Finally, Taste Like Chicken” that I wanted to share with everyone, in case it just slipped by.   In there you can read this:  recently a Whole Foods Market mislabeled a fake chicken salad as a real chicken salad.  No one complained, because they couldn’t tell!  Of course they needed to correct the problem, due to the possibility of allegic reactions from soy, but still, it was that good!

That’s why we love progress.  Remember “Love Burger”?  We have to start somewhere.  Actually, it’s pretty good..
