Souen Restaurant

Souen Restaurant

Souen is a well established NYC Vegan Institution.  And it should be.  Although the food is very basic and simple, in my opinion, it is really well put together flavor wise.  They feature macrobiotic cooking.  A lot of root vegetables here, and brown rice and tofu, dark greens.  We just love the Yuba rolls, made from tofu “skins”.  Seriously, can’t get enough.  Basically very classic vegetarian restaurant of top quality.

There are two locations:   210 Sixth Ave at Prince St, Tel: 212-807-7421
and 28 East 13th Street, bet. University Pl and 5th Ave

Counter Restaurant in NYC

Counter is an incredible vegetarian restaurant in NYC, where we have had a number of really special meals.  What sets this restaurant apart is the really high quality of the cooking and variety of unusual menu items carried.  This is not a place for just veggies with rice type food.  I start to get really hungry just thinking about this place.  It’s a really great place to take non vegetarians to experience what can be done by real chefs in vegetarian/vegan cuisine.  Also a wonderful place to take someone special.  We especially love the appetizers.  Great wine as well.  The one negative is that counter is a bit pricey, but it’s worth it.   Check it out yourself, and let me know if you love it too!
