Philly’s Khyber Pass is very good food for us Vegetarian/Vegans.

I don’t know why it took us so long to finally go and eat at Kyber Pass. Possibly it was because I think I performed there MANY years ago, and it wasn’t a good gig? Which of course wasn’t their fault – we had no fans in Philly at all! But so many people have told me that this is their favorite spot for good vegan food in all of Philadelphia. So finally we went – and it was really very very good! The Khyber Pass has a lot of vegan choices. They have vegan chili, and a few other…

Vegan "Crab Cakes" at Charlie Was A Sinner.

Vegan “Crab Cakes” at Charlie Was A Sinner.

The Rock and Roll Vegetarian headed out to Charlie Was a Sinner, the renownd Philadelphia vegan restaurant and bar, for some happy hour drinks and to try their “Maryland Style Crab Cakes”. Charlie Was a Sinner has created a dynamite little dish!  Two small slider sized cakes on a brioche roll, with a tangy remoulade and lettuce, and a side of potato chips.  Everything was super fresh – Charlie’s makes everything on the plate, including the bun and chips.   The chips had a slight hint of “Old Bay”, which we were told was actually a homemade salt blend.   The cakes…

Review of Le Peg Restaurant in Philadelphia for the Vegetarian.

Review of Le Peg Restaurant in Philadelphia for the Vegetarian.

Le Peg is a new french brasserie inspired restaurant down along the waterfront in Philadelphia, set in a beautiful building across from the Race St. Pier, located at 140 N Columbus Blvd. While not a vegetarian restaurant, I’ve had some good dishes there, and enjoyed some drinks at the very nice bar inside, as well as a few beers outside in the cool beer garden courtyard. A truly fantastic building, which was formerly a high pressure pump house for the Philadelphia Fire Department, has been beautifully remodeled with a modern industrial look – a lot of steel and hard surfaces and…

The Hopped-Up Cafe- Our Local Local.

We are currently living in the Hudson Valley, NY, and the closest restaurant to us is a little place called the Hopped-Up Cafe, of High Falls NY.  It is across from our really nice food co-op, the High Falls Food Co-op.  We stopped in recently for a meal and some drinks.  Loved it!   The Hopped-Up Cafe is in the location of a former vegetarian/vegan friendly place called the Morning Brew, from which we loved to get their vegan “bacon egg and cheese”.  Patty, one of the new owners, was working there a bit I believe before she took over…

We Visit The Stockade Tavern in Kingston NY, and Learn to Make a Traditional Old Fashioned Cocktail

Rock and Roll Vegetarian loves a well made cocktail. The Stockade Tavern in Kingston NY is my bar of choice in Upstate NY!! I recently paid a visit up to the tavern to get a bit of instruction on making some traditional cocktails, and find out a bit about the place. First of all, this great spot is not your typical bar. There are no TV’s, and no blasting music. No neon signs. How do they do it? The make great drinks. You can go there, watch Paul do his bartending thing and get inspired. The place is a very…
